(by me!)

The Winter '08 Interweave Crochet preview is up. I've heard of a few subscribers getting their copies, but I haven't seen the magazine in person yet.
I'm delighted with the way the jacket looks in the online photos, though. Ordinarily, when I'm making a sample for publication I just keep trying it on myself to check the fit. And ordinarily, I'm skinny enough to get away with it. When I was making this last summer, though, I was mid-second trimester and getting curvier by the minute. My slender young cousin Rosie helped me out by modeling most of the body for me but she had to return to her native Scotland before I got to the sleeves (something about starting university), and I never got to see the finished product on a real, live human--until now. And it looks pretty much the way it's supposed to. Yay!
Just as I was running out of things to do (no, not really) the nice people at Knitscene sent me a bundle of this pretty yarn:
It's Blue Sky Alpaca Suri Merino for a scarf that will be in the Fall '09 issue ('09--good grief! It's sooner than we think!). It's nice yarn, perfect for December. The pearly blue-gray shade is the exact color of the sky today and the yarn itself is soft and lofty and should be great fun to knit. It's definitely a winter yarn, though. It's fluffy and shed-dy and would drive me nuts if I were knitting it in heat and humidity.
Beyond that, I've been working on a handful of small Christmas presents; a hat and two cowls. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get worthwhile photos of any of them, and it's high time they were in the mail!

It is lovely and fits very well. I will be sure to favorite it on Ravelry.
Why, Thank you!
Btw, I'm hoping you'll make the pattern to your Connecticut Avenue Jacket available sometime. It's beautiful!
