I design patterns for the intermediate knitter that are fun to make and fun to wear.
I’ve been designing knitting patterns (along with the odd crochet pattern) for about six years now. I’ve been published in Interweave Knits, Knitscene, Interweave Crochet, YARN, and the magazine formerly known as Yarn Forward. I’ve also worked with yarn companies such as Knit Picks, Nashua, Classic Elite and Himalya Yarns.
My big project right now is a book due out this spring from Cooperative Press.
In addition to designing, I love to teach both knitting and crochet whenever I get the chance. I love watching people “get it,” whether it’s casting on or doing a complicated cable.
I have three little girls and a nice husband, all of whom deserve more hand knits than they get. We have a goldfish and, currently, some sheep living in the backyard. The sheep come with our rental house, though; if we ever get around to buying a home, they won’t be coming with us.
We moved from central Illinois to Oregon, not far from Portland, in the spring of 2011. The West Coast still feels new to me and I still miss Illinois, but I think we’ll be very happy here.
