Named Roadster because it’s a convertible (get it?), this quick and easy project is knit in a great big rectangle. Buttoned and looped around your neck a couple of times, it’s a big, cozy cowl. Unbuttoned, it’s a long, soft scarf. The simple lace stitch gives the bulky yarn a lot of drape and the combination of big yarn and big needles guarantee this project will zip along as quickly as its namesake.
Finished size: 16″ wide x 80″ long.
Yarn: Valley Yarns Berkshire Bulky (85% wool, 15% alpaca); 100g/108yd. Periwinkle (#26); 3 balls. (You could substitute any number of yarns but I’d suggest something soft since it’s going around your neck.)
Gauge: 10.25 stitches and 11.25 rows = 4″ (10 cm)
Needles: US 11 – 8.0 mm; US 13 – 9.0 mm.
Notions: 6 1″ buttons; tapestry needle for weaving in ends and sewing on buttons.
